Kutna Hora

So last weekend, I went on a trip to Kutna Hora, a small town about an hour outside of Prague. It's a charming medieval town with twisting cobble stone streets enclosed by colorful facades of row buildings. In its prime, the town was home to a silver mine, which made it very wealthy. We got to go on a tour of the mines, which were about 30 m underground. . . very spooky. But, the first picture below surprisingly has nothing to do with the mine, but rather the interior of one of Kutna Hora's churches. The church was built in the 15th century as an ossuary, and later, the bones in the church were used to decorate it . . . creepy and morbid. I guess the chandelier in the middle of the church includes every bone in the human body!

My first bird spotting for dad! Can you classify it?

now the cutsie shiz . . . aw we all love Europe. Espresso in a street cafe, anyone?

These next few are from the main church in the town, St. Barbara Church. It's a lovely gothic structure as you can see . . .

Look at those flying buttresses! Whoever called them the dark ages?
